The effect of cardiac rehabilitation exercises on functional capacity and Ejection fraction in patients after coronary artery bypass graft surgery

Abstract:

Aims: The use of rehabilitation programs is effective in heart patients. Therefore, the aim of the present study was to determination the effect of cardiac rehabilitation exercises on functional capacity and ejection fraction in patients after coronary artery bypass graft surgery. Materials & Methods: For this purpose, 16 cardiac patients of Fatemeh Zahra Sari heart center who underwent CABG surgery, were randomly divided into 2 experimental groups (n = 8) and control (n = 8). The experimental group performed aerobic exercise for 8 weeks and three sessions per week for 10 to 20 minutes with an intensity of 6 to 14(RPE) on the Borg pressure scale, with special care, and the control group received only daily medical care under the supervision of a physician during the training period. The level of ejection fraction and the functional capacity of the subjects were examined 48 hours before and after in the test. Independent t-test was used to evaluate intragroup changes and independent t-test was used to investigate intergroup changes. Findings: The results showed that the level of functional capacity and ejection fraction in the experimental group increased significantly (p = 0.001; p = 0.011), respectively, and the results also showed that between the changes in functional capacity and ejection fraction between the two groups. Experimental and control There is a significant difference (p = 0.001 level; p = 0.014) Conclusion: In general, the results of the present study indicate that rehabilitation aerobic activity can improve functional capacity and ejection fraction in patients after coronary artery bypass graft surgery.
